Does your child's school have a KPGT liaison?

KPGT is seeking parents of identified GT students who want to assume an active role in gifted education and issues. We need at least two parents from each KISD campus to serve as liaisons between KPGT and their campuses. While serving as a campus liaison, the opportunities for learning about giftedness and gifted education are immense.

Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with KPGT!

We are an entirely volunteer organization and we often have many great ideas and not enough people to make them a reality. Here are some of the ways you can help make our great ideas happen:

Super Saturday: March 8th is coming quickly. We need your help both before and on the day of the big event. We have tasks suited to every person. Please take a look at this list and contact Janet Thomason from our Board page if you can help (with "SS volunteer help" in the subject field).

Campus Family Fun Nights: Our campus liaisons would appreciate your help in scheduling and organizing family nights. We have had very successful events and they often do not take much time, just initiative. GT family gatherings can happen at area fun-spots like bowling alleys, pottery and other crafting places or movie theaters. Smaller schools can partner with larger schools for better turnout. Please contact your campus KPGT liaison for more details.

Junior High and High School Events: we want to serve the junior high and high school students better. We would like to sponsor an event similar to Super Saturday or some other special event. This is new territory for us, so there is no right or wrong. We just need the right person to lead it. Please email Susan Sweeney from the link on our Board page (with "JH and HS event KPGT help" in the subject field).

Newsletter Distribution: When our printed newsletters are finished we are always anxious to get them to the Challenge teachers for distribution. Sometimes we need help driving the newsletters to the schools. If you would be interested, please contact Sharon Mata through the email link on our Board page (with "KPGT newsletter distribution" in the subject field).

Submit helpful links for our website: Do you know of some helpful web sites for GT that we have missed? Please email Susan Sweeney from the link our Board page with your suggestions (with "Link suggestion for KPGT website" in the subject field).

Video Taping and Video Editing Help: Do you have audio/visual technical skills or equipment? We are trying to record more of our events so our community can benefit from them at a later time. We need help editing the video we have and taping/editing for future events. Please email Susan Sweeney from the link on our Board page (with "A/V help for KPGT" in the subject field).

KPGT School Board Candidate Forum: If politics and elections are an interest of yours, we could use your help organizing our annual candidate forum. Please email Tess Zimmerman from the link on our Board page (with"KPGT forum help" in the subject field).

Teacher Appreciation and KPGT General Membership Meeting: We would like to do more to appreciate our teachers and recognize outstanding volunteers at our meeting in May. If hospitality and appreciation are your specialties, we need you! Please email Susan Sweeney from the link on the Board page (with "KPGT Recognition help" in the subject field).

Do you have your own ideas of how you can help? Please email Susan Sweeney from the link on the Board page with your suggestions (with "KPGT ideas" in the subject field).
